The Laboratory Assistant responsibilities and duties include but not limited to:

• Set up lab equipment and instructional resources for demonstrations and student lab sessions.

• Disassemble and tidy the lab following each session.

• Assist in the preparation/printing handouts and other instructional resources.

• Assist faculty update lab manuals and arrange for student copies.

• Ensure the lab is fully stocked at all times (supplies, stationary, etc).

• Maintain an inventory of all lab equipment, supplies, and consumables.

• Prepare a list of supplies to be ordered as requested.

• Assist in developing/maintaining an instruction file for all equipment in the lab.

• Ensure all lab equipment is properly calibrated and maintained and coordinate with the Lab Coordinator if servicing is needed.

• Coordinate and monitor correct disposal of biohazard material.

• Report any computer-related problems to the Lead Instructor and Lab Coordinator and coordinate with IT for repairs.

• Complete routine safety checks of lab equipment (electrical cords, fire extinguishers, first aid supplies, etc.)

• Complete routine lab inspections (chemical storage, ventilation, tripping hazards, etc).

• Ensure safety protocols are adhered to.

• Assist in preparation of Career Fair and other college activities.

• Other related duties.
