Reporting to the Head of the Compliance and Review Department, the Head of Legal Compliance is responsible for providing Legal support to the Bank to enable it to function efficiently and be responsive to the organizational needs. The job holder is responsible for the effective and efficient management of Legal compliance, provision of legal advisory services and ensuring effective management of legal and contractual risks.



- Legal Risk

• Review and provide legal advice on tender documents.

•Review ongoing cases and prepare reports accordingly.

•Liaise with the head of the Compliance and Review Department to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have been taken.

•Provide legal protection and risk management advice on pertinent issues, especially on contract management.



- Policy Development

• Develop a comprehensive policies and procedures document on legal risks in accordance with the local and international statutory laws and regulations.

• Review the legal implications of internal policies and procedures and prepare periodic reports.

• Draft and review contracts / agreements in accordance with the internal policies and procedures.

• Update the policies and procedures manual as new local and international laws are enacted.



- Regulatory Compliance

• Develop a legal compliance manual in accordance with the local and international laws and regulations with continuous updates as new amendments occur.

• Formulate compliance check-lists to be used for the purpose of ensuring that all information required is provided accordingly.

• Monitor compliance with statutory obligations and prepare reports accordingly.

• Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for the department on the relevant legal issues.

• Update the legal compliance manual as new local and international laws are enacted.
