* Develops transportation engineering plans by researching, analyzing, selecting, and applying Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) engineering concepts, approaches, techniques, and criteria; adapting and modifying transportation engineering options; performing horizontal and vertical roadway alignment calculations; preparing conceptual, preliminary, and final drawings; collaborating with related engineering teams; testing and evaluating materials, suppliers, and contractors; determining and establishing design specifications and safety standards.



* Accomplishes project milestones by preparing field layouts; reviewing progress reports; conducting field inspections; identifying and resolving problems; training and guiding project team; escalating project completion impediments.



* Verifies construction by conducting tests; building simulations; analyzing test data.



* Documents construction by recording features, operational requirements, and warnings; detailing safety and support requirements.



* Maintains engineering team accomplishments by coordinating actions; obtaining expert input; reviewing open issues and action items; contributing information and transportation engineering analysis to team meetings and reports; guiding engineering technicians.



* Implements transportation engineering plan by providing technical support; troubleshooting and resolving construction problems related to transportation requirements; detailing highway management requirements.



* Prepares transportation engineering reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
