Under the supervision of the Dean of Student Affairs, the successful candidate will lead and manage the Recreation team and co-ordinate, market and deliver recreational activities for the College’s students, staff, external organizations and the general public. This includes but is not limited to:
• Build and develop a collegial staff team. Lead and supervise recreation and sport staff as well as student assistants
• Responsible for the overall operation of the campus recreation facilities
• Develop, promote, and administer all campus recreation programs aimed at encouraging a lifelong commitment to health and wellness, and enable a culture of healthy bodies, healthy minds and a healthy campus. This will include but not be limited to: fitness programs, intramurals, intercollegiate competition, sports clubs, aquatics and special events
• Foster and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, faculty, alumni, community members and members of sport governing bodies, as well as community based organizations and agencies
• Oversee the effective and efficient hosting of events that showcase CNA-Q’s students, programs and campus
• Provide leadership in the development and operation of structures, programs, and policies that promote student life
• Responsible for the cooperative formulation of the annual strategic plan for athletics and recreation
• Oversee the Human Resources requirements of the Department, including recruitment, hiring, performance appraisals, and discipline
• Ensure professional development opportunities are maintained for all
• Direct, schedule and evaluate all employees assigned to the recreation and athletics department
• Ensure that facilities are operated and maintained effectively and safely
• Develop a preventative maintenance program
• Develop the policies and procedures related to the use of recreational facilities by students, college employees, relatives of employees and the public
• Contribute to the established and continued growth of a world class, collegiate recreation and athletics facility
• Develop, promote, maintain and properly evaluate recreational programming for all members of the College community and external stakeholders
• Liaise with a wide range of internal and external contacts, to fulfill roles and create competitive intramural and intercollegiate events in athletics and recreation programming
• Prepare the departmental budget for review and approval by the Dean of Student Affairs and manage the approved budget in accordance with College policies and procedures
• Perform any other related tasks as required
