The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for planning and designing tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment. Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of such equipment.

 Plan work assignments, perform duties with a minimum of direct supervision, and assist as a helper in other trades and in the general maintenance and operation

 Perform all duties in a safe manner and in accordance with established work standards

 Perform, as required, skilled maintenance activities

 Ensure project engineering specifications are implemented as per plans

 Ensure effective engineering and communication with client

 Assist in establishing project cost centers and allocate costs accordingly

 Assist in preparing project internal and external reports in the required format using the project maintained records an information, and the analysis thereof, if necessary

 Prepare and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts and other visual aids

 Review development plans for compliance with adopted engineering standards and good engineering practices

 Ensure that all engineering related and safety procedures are adhered to throughout the project duration

 Provide suitable technical solutions and estimate costs and timescales.

 Communicate equipment performance expectations to suppliers including quality, performance, manufacturing, capacity, system fit and life cycle costs.

 Initiate, coordinate and maintain Projects lists of deliverables including those for project procedures and plans, engineering, procurement, materials submittals, method statements etc.

 Monitor the contract scope of work any variations thereto

 Prepare variation orders and claims submission

 Prepare, submit and follow up monthly payment requests

 Comply with all SKME policies and procedures and adhere to SKME standards of business ethics and conduct

 Assist in subcontracts administration and related correspondences, measurements, payment certification, closing final account etc

 Anticipate and identify client needs and translate them into design specifications

 Research and analyse client design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.

 Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.

 Design, evaluate, install, operate and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements.

 Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation.

 Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or malfunctions.

 Provide feedback to design engineers on client problems and needs.

 Ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.

 Train staff and new employees
