Essential Job Functions

• Being constantly aware of customers and their needs

• Ensuring that all customers are treated equally

• Having an excellent and up to date knowledge of all products/service/promotions

• Welcoming and greeting each customer as they arrive at the cash desks

• Keeping the strictest confidentiality with regards sales figures and customer information

• Ensuring customers pay the correct price for each and every item

• Processing all sales according to strictly implement cashier policies for cash, credit card, credit account, cheque (after approval) and debit card according to the Cash Desk Manual

• Double checking all change offered

• Balancing payments at the end of each shift

• Maintaining a correct float in order to have change available

• Assisting the customer with packing when necessary

• Recording any and all discounts after the appropriate approval

• Recording any and all Clearance Area sales appropriately

• Recording any and all gift voucher sales appropriately

• Ensuring a steady supply of cash desks supplies such as till rolls, credit / debit slips and paper so as not to inconvenience the customer

• Calling the Duty Manager if queues build up too long at Cash Desk

• Ensuring that the cash desk / packing area is kept clean and tidy

• Checking products in boxes are in good condition and changing them when necessary

• Handing in any lost and found cards or money to the Duty Manager

• Encouraging customers to complete any customer information or comments leaflets available

• Always thanking the customer for shopping and saying goodbye
